I hope these explanations and activities had helped you to solve some questions. See you soon
Dividing with remainders
To divide is to make equal groups of a certain amount or to make certain amount of groups of the same amount of elements.
Doing this process you might find some cases where some elements can´t be grouped, this is what we called remainder.
For example: 47 ÷ 9, means to make groups of 9 with 47 elements.
So: 47 ÷ 9 = 5 groups and 2 left over.

Dividing facts
A fact family is a set of multiplying and dividing sentences to related 3 numbers.
For example if you know 7 × 8 = 56, so it´s possible to say that:
a. 8 × 7 = 56,
b. 56 ÷ 7 = 8 and
c. 56 ÷ 8 = 7
This is the first step we use to multiply.

Problem solving
Let´s try to find the solution of the following problem.
4. In a month, Ms Torres drives about 590 miles to her job. About how many miles does she drive in a year?
HINT: How many months are there in a year?

Multiplying
First of all is important to remember the elements in a multiplying sentence.
Factor X Factor = Product.
The factors are the numbers which the operation is acting over and the prodcut is the answer of a multiplication.
According to multiplying theory , answer the following questions:
1. What is the product of a number by zero?
2. What is the product of a number by one?
3. Is the product always greater than either factors?

Math Class: Problem solving
Welcome to math and geometry class. Today we are going to work on problem solving but if you have any questions about geometry feel free to ask.
So here we go, you´ll need a pencil and a sheet of paper or at least a calculator.

Alice in wonderland and Math
Tomorrow March 5th, Alice in wonderland, the latest Tim Burton movie, is going to be open at Colombian theaters. This is the second part of the movie adaptation of the book originally named Alice´s adventures in Wonderland written by Lewis Carroll.
Lewis Carroll was a very important mathematician in IXX century. He wrote novels and also mathematics books but the most cultural representative book, which has been translated to several languages, is Alice in Wonderland.
By reading this book carefully you are going to find some notions of speed and neighborhood, which are very rich math concepts adapted to a children book.
Watch the movie and try to read the book you are going to enjoy them for sure.

Games to practice identifying and recognizing elements of solids are also available in the link list SOLIDS.
Division facts
In this blog you would be able to find basic exercises of division facts and word problems. Go to the link list DIVISION FACTS and remember your kid may need some help with the setting of the page.
Multiplying
In order to practice and remember the time tables and multiplying by greater numbers , there is a link list named MULTIPLYING at the bottom, where you can practice multiplying sentences, multiples and word problem.
HI DEAR 300 FAMILIES.
Welcome to the math and geometry blog for third grade.
This is a tool our school has created in order to take advantage of the time your girls have been home because of the STRIKE.
In this blog you are going to find some links of study guides and games related to the topics included in the bimmestral exam.
